As our very first progress report, I’ll give you a run-down of where we’re at and what we’re currently working on…
Since the announcement of SpinTools, we’ve been focusing on our user interface. The interface needs to be clean, functional, provide sufficient amounts of information, and still allow us to grow in the future. Unfortunately this means it’s also going to be compact… We plan on releasing some kind of zoom or font-size control.
The feedback we’ve received via email and serato forum has been amazing! Many of you had pitched some great ideas, and here I want to show you what’s been implemented already.
Our initial reveal had a major flaw, I’m glad nobody pointed it out… There were no cue points, loops, rekordbox memory slots, nothing! So we went ahead and changed that.
As you can tell, we’ve spent a significant amount of time finding a reasonable solution to display as much information as possible about the track. However, with that said, there’s still much more missing such as:
- Track audio gain control
- Gain Meter
- Corrupt or Locked file notification
- The track key
An exciting feature we’ve been working on is Trends. This is where you go to see what’s hot across different sources such as Beatport, Billboard, and DJ City. While using Trends and selecting a genre, SpinTools will quickly analyze your library and identify which tracks you do not have. This could save you at the club, especially with the rapid rate that new music spreads. SpinTools will not download the song for you, you must acquire the file on your own.
That’s all I can share with you at the moment… but don’t worry! There will be many more updates to come! If you have any suggestions, requests, or questions, feel free to comment below or hit us up on the Serato Forums.
As always, make sure to subscribe to the newsletter for latest news and updates!
